Why only one Compliance Officer?
Under AUSTRAC Rules 2025, every reporting entity has exactly one designated AMLCO — named in the programme, fit-and-proper assessed, with sign-off authority on suspicious matter reports and customer due diligence outcomes. Multiple parallel sign-off authorities break the audit trail and create accountability ambiguity.
Korvos enforces this in the data layer. Switching the AMLCO is an event with audit consequences (appointment record, governing-body resolution, standing-delegation update) — not a checkbox. The principal-trader on Essentials self-designates; Compliance and Compliance Pro tenants designate one AMLCO who may or may not be the principal.
Independent review (the 3-yearly obligation)
Every reporting entity must arrange an independent review of the AML/CTF programme at least once every three years. The first cycle for AUSTRAC-Tranche-2 entities arrives in 2029, so this isn't an immediate concern at signup. Cost is typically $1,500–$3,000 per cycle from a specialist AML firm.
- Essentials + Compliance — you arrange your own reviewer when your cycle is due. We provide the audit-ready programme export and a hash-chained record bundle.
- Compliance Pro — we coordinate the review when your cycle arrives. We'll confirm reviewer details before your first cycle and won't pretend to have a partner network we haven't built yet.
